The guys advised to charge the solar hot water unit for about 3 hours prior to use and then said, if I want to, isolate the backup grid power at the fuse box, with I did and have not switched it back on since saving heaps in my power bill. Seeing as that is now around 3-4 months that is a big saving to me.
